5 months since my last update

WOW! It has been some time since I've last updated my blog O_o lol! A lot has changed within the last 5 months but I'll be brief with it.

I have become a DIY!!!! I have been doing my own sisterlocks now for 4 months, my hair has grown back since I went on my cutting spree (lol) you can tell by my roots. I want to dye them because of that but I'll wait until next spring PLUS, it shows how much my hair has grown. I've done about 3 re-tightenings on my own and I normally do them over a course of 3-4 days. My laziest was the last re-ti, which was about a week ago. It took me all week to finish, only because my arms were hurting and it felt like I wasn't getting anywhere. I said I would go to the shop for my next re-ti but we'll see. I have combined about 3 or 4 only b/c I didn't like how small they were and I know I have combined a couple within the root from my last re-ti...I didn't clip them off like I should have. I'll post pictures with my next update so everyone can see the difference in my hair now....until next time :)

It's been a minute...

Wow, I havent been on here in two months but not much has happened, hair is trying to grow back and I finally dyed it last month, cherrywood, and I love it!!! Cant really see the color in pictures but you can definitely see it in person! You can see my color in professional pictures though, I guess cause of the lighting..Been keeping my hair pinned up and covered up with all the dust, dirt, and pollen around.

Here's a picture of my basket weaves.

1 YEAR!!!

TODAY makes ONE YEAR for my Sisterlocks!!!! Seems like it has taken a long time to get here lol. I can look back at earlier pictures and see a big difference from where my hair first started off. My hair actually looks more like locks since I chopped off 2-2.5 inches from the ends. They weren't thicking or locking but was actually trying to do so further up the lock, so I cut my hair maybe an .5 in from where my hair is trying to bud. The only thing I've been thinking about these days is adding highlights! Need some sprucing up! Nothing has drastically changed in maintenance, still braiding and banding when I washed. I am no longer using the Sisterlock shampoo. I am currently using Soul Purpose Brazilian Jackfruit body gel/shampoo and for my daily moisture I am using Healthy Locs daily conditioning mist, two items that I ordered from Videolocktician.com, and I LOVE them, my hair always smells good and holds the right amount of moisture. All products have natural ingredience, no alcohol! Visit the site and check out some of those products!

I'm currently due for a re-tightening, which I am getting tomorrow. Was pushed back from Friday due to work issues. So I'll be posting before and after pictures maybe Wednesday!

Here are 1st days pics, 1month pics, 6 months, 9 months and the most recent picture

Cut my ends!

Welp, I knew one day I would look at my ends and I would hear a voice in my head saying "cut them, cut them" lol! Yesterday was that day! I guess from straightening and pulling my hair in different styles during my transitioning phase, my ends are straight and have no signs of thickening or locking, so I decided to cut it!! All of 2.5-3 inches, from the ends to the middle of my lock where my hair is budding . If you look at the 1st picture I posted belowyou can see what I'm talking about. I DON'T MISS IT!! I actually like it better :) Im overall happy with the look! Pictures are below.

right where its starting to get thin is where my hair is budding

all of my ends after i cut them off...u can see how straight some of them were

11th re-tightening

Friday the 11th was my 11th re-ti. I haven't been seeing any changes since the last time I posted. I do have 3 sets of combined locs now, one in the back and 2 on my edges, which I knew was bound to happen because they were thin and not hanging on by too much hair. My SL count is now down to 400. I figured it would be better to combine than to lose a loc, which I have not done so far thank goodness! My re-ti schedule has been moved to 6weeks which I'm happy about! 4wks go by too fast. Still doing the same things...growing and styling. After my re-ti my locktician braided sections of my hair 1/2 way down and bantu'd the braids. I wore my hair like that until it dried and took it out later on that night. It actually came out more curly than wavy which I liked. The curls were tight tho, which I don't like too much so I just decided to put it in a mohawk! I loved the style!!! Pictures are below!

10 months :D

WOW! 10 months on the 25th of February!! I'm loving every part of my journey! My re-tightenings have went from 4 to 5 weeks, that's a little change but I'm happy about it. Scheduled for my next re-tightening on Saturday but I'm going to push it back a week...been thinking more and more about taking the re-tightening class, which will be close enough to me (B-More) in April. The same month of my anniversary!! I think it will be worth it and cut down on my monthly spending a bit. If I decide to do so, I will still make appointments with my locktician every 4 to 5 months for maintenance. I have been online looking up different hair products for the last few month, a couple have caught my eye on videolocktician.com. Will get them and try them out and let you guys know how they go. As of right now, I am still braiding and banding, bunching, encasing, frizzy, growing, and waiting for them to mature. Still using my daily water spritz and a little bit of Tea Tree Oil for my scalp.

A New Year

It's been over a month since I have blogged. Shame on me! lol.. I've had one re-tighten since the last time I was here, a couple days before Christmas. 8 months have passed already...and I'm seeing more change in my hair. The roots are a lot thicker and so are my sisterlocks. It really looks like I have taken a comb and teased my hair. I'm guessing that is what it is suppose to do??! I have about 4inches of thickness from the root doing down and the rest is kind of straight with curly ends. Some are locking, mostly in the back. It's also very frizzy looking at times...I have a lot of loose hairs. Still on a 4 week re-ti, using my Sisterlock shampoo & IC shampoo, and also, still braiding and banding...Overall I'm still loving my hair and I get a lot of compliments on them especially when I do lil simple styles. I have a couple pictures from the Holidays. Wore my hair mostly up..braided up the side and in the back. Click to make pictures bigger.
